The skulls convey natural origin and animal existence, functioning as a reference to time, our organic foundation, and mortality.
The galvanized pipes refer to the beginning of the rapid technological advancement of human civilization.
The magnets from hard drives embody the concept of information, digital memory, and the modern technological body.
It is a form that embodies modern man: overloaded with information and technical expertise, yet alienated from his natural truth.
The sculpture is inspired by the illegal practice of force-feeding ducks for the production of Foie Gras, where the body is violently transformed into a mechanism for producing surplus value; likewise, in the sculpture, the organic element (the skulls) coexists with the cold industrial skeleton and the data-carrying magnets. The work comments on the contemporary culture of exploitation — whether it concerns the animal, the human, or the very information that is drained to exhaustion.
Since the beginning of history, humans were born to rule and be ruled, to dominate and be dominated, to create and to destroy. They find themselves in a constant struggle, with rapid technological evolution as their weapon against the laws of nature. The sculpture "Dependency" is a statement of this relentless interaction, a battle with no winner. A dependency on everything around them, opposing their natural uniqueness and the instincts they have been equipped with. Trapped in nets of their own invention.
Ethical statement: No animals were killed or harmed for the creation of this work. The organic remains were found by the artist in nature, in a state of complete natural decomposition. The approach of the work is based on respect for life and the use of materials that already existed as remnants of human and natural activity.
